Dealing with the discomfort and pain of period cramps is an all-too-familiar experience for many of us. While over-the-counter pain relievers are a common solution, there’s an increasing interest in natural remedies for period cramps.
Essential Oils
One natural remedy that can provide relief for period cramps is the use of essential oils. Oils like lavender, clary sage, and peppermint contain properties that can help ease discomfort. You can dilute a few drops of your chosen essential oil with a carrier oil and gently massage it onto your lower abdomen.
My personal favorite? Woman-owned brand Saje’s Period essential oil roll-on, with lavender, geranium, and Roman chamomile.
Herbal Teas
Herbal teas such as ginger, chamomile, and raspberry leaf tea have been known to ease menstrual cramps. Ginger, in particular, has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce pain.
Yoga
Exercise increases blood flow and releases endorphins, which act as natural pain relievers. With some gentle stretches and calming breathing techniques, yoga can be especially beneficial to incorporate into your daily routine during your period.

Heat Therapy
Applying heat to the lower abdomen is a tried-and-true natural remedy for period cramps. Use a hot water bottle, heating pad, or a warm bath to relax the muscles.
