April 22, 2024, marks the 54th anniversary of the modern environmental movement ⸺ Earth Day!
The celebration of eco-consciousness takes place in more than 190 countries around the globe and is the most widely observed nonreligious holiday in history.
Want to celebrate Earth Day but don’t know how? Here’s a roundup of Earth Day 2024 events that you can participate in across the country!
Clean Up America
On the first day of Earth Week (April 21st), you can join a three-hour action blitz as American Conservation Coalition branches and individuals across the nation rally together to make a tangible impact in their communities. Participants will engage in clean-up activities to remove litter and waste from parks, streets, waterways, and anywhere our communities have been polluted!
The Great Global Cleanup
According to the Keep America Beautiful 2020 National Litter Study, there are 50 billion pieces of litter across the country. If every American picked up 152 pieces, we would clean it all up! The Great American Cleanup annually engages more than 300,000 volunteers who join the #152PickUpChallenge and participate in local cleanups.
National Park Week
Entrance fees to ALL national parks will be waived from April 20 to April 28 to help kick off the celebration and encourage everyone to enjoy their national parks in person. National Park Service parks, programs and partners will be hosting events and activities all week!
