At Aunt Flow, we believe everyone deserves period products that are safe, sustainable and made with menstruators and the environment in mind. What you put in your body matters, and we’re committed to keeping harmful ingredients out of our pads and tampons.
Let’s break down three things you definitely don’t want in your period products, and why we keep them far, far away.
Dyes
They may make products look “clean” or “fresh,” but dyes have no business being in your period care. Some conventional pads and tampons use synthetic dyes to achieve that bright white color or decorative patterns. The problem? The vaginal area is highly absorbent, which means toxic chemicals from dyes can easily enter the bloodstream.
Luckily, you don’t have to worry about dyes, chemicals or fragrances in Aunt Flow period products! Want to learn more about what we do include (and what we don’t)? Check out our ingredients list for a full breakdown.

PFAS (a.k.a. “Forever Chemicals”)
PFAS are industrial chemicals found in a wide range of products, from waterproof jackets to nonstick pans and, alarmingly, some period products. These “forever chemicals” don’t break down in the environment or the human body, and they’ve been linked to a range of health concerns.
Even trace amounts can cause irritation for sensitive skin. That’s why Aunt Flow’s pads and tampons are PFAS-free, and our OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification guarantees every component is tested for harmful substances.
Latex + Plastic
Latex and plastic are common in traditional period products, but they can be harsh on sensitive skin. These materials can trap heat and moisture, leading to irritation and discomfort. Not to mention, plastic-heavy products contribute to environmental waste.
That’s why we keep our sustainability efforts at the forefront of everything we do! Aunt Flow tampons are plastic-free while still maintaining comfort with our smooth-tip cardboard applicators. By sticking with cardboard applicators, we’ve ensured that 23,520,000 plastic applicators did not end up in waterways or landfills.
We also removed all plastic from our pad packaging and ditched the plastic bags they were once wrapped in. This shift alone has eliminated the equivalent of 66,000 plastic bags annually!
