Good riddance, Texas Tampon Tax! 👋
A new Texas law that exempts several care items from sales tax, including period products, will go into effect on September 1.
Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 379 on June 18, prompting Texas to join the growing list of states that have removed the tampon tax.
Here is the complete list of items that will be exempt from sales tax:
- Period products, such as tampons, pads and menstrual cups
- Maternity clothing
- Baby wipes
- Breast milk pumping products
- Baby bottles
- Diapers, including those for adults
- Wound care, including medical tape and bandages
According to the Texas Coalition of Diaper Banks, this new bill will save families approximately $87 per year.
