Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport

Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport Joins the Menstrual Movement

Located between the hustle and bustle of Terminal A and B, the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport is just an escalator ride away, making it an ideal place to stay for Orlando travelers. On any given day, the hotel caters to the needs of thousands.

Before the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport can guarantee guests are satisfied with their stay, they need to ensure that the needs of their employees⸺referred to as “Associates” at Hyatt⸺are met, starting with providing high-quality period products.

Director of Sales and Marketing Paul Webber shares how Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport is making a positive impact through the implementation of Aunt Flow period product dispensers.

Hyatt Regency Orlando’s Introduction to Aunt Flow

According to Webber, Hyatt previously had complimentary products available as a resource for staff in the restrooms and in the locker rooms, “more so on an emergency basis.” The period products were kept in housekeeping as part of a supply for guests as well.

“From what I’ve heard, the products were just uncomfortable and bulky,” Webber says.

It wasn’t until former Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport Associate Diana Bohn was with her family at LegoLand Florida and noticed the Aunt Flow dispenser in the restroom. She brought it back to the leadership team.

“She talked about her own personal experience in seeing how it was a great benefit, from morale to associate feedback. We talked it through and assessed what the fee would be for the program long-term because it was something that we never had budgeted for. We all decided to roll with it and then get it implemented.”

The Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport team then welcomed their newest addition to the hotel: Three Model E Dispensers!

Placement of the Dispensers

When deciding where to install their dispensers, the team settled on high-traffic, “major areas where someone would need to go to the bathroom.”

“[The dispenser locations] are basically hitting all the major departments. We had the dispensers installed in accessible areas so that someone didn’t have to run all the way down to the other side of the hotel just to use a particular space.”

The Feedback

Webber says that partnering with Aunt Flow is a small way to make a big impact, drawing upon Hyatt’s motto, “We care for people to be their best.”

From feedback throughout the hotel, it seems like they are enjoying having [free period products] available like this.

While feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, Webber initially had concerns about overuse when they first implemented the Aunt Flow dispensers.

“We did have a fear that once we did put it in, we would constantly be running out of the products or dealing with theft. We haven’t had any of those issues so that negative thought was thrown out right away. It’s not like the dispensers are empty, right? The products are being used, but they’re not being for people’s own inventory.”

What’s Next?

To start, the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport team decided to keep Aunt Flow dispensers for internal Associates and not to roll out a period program to guests staying in the hotel. Webber says that’s not to say they wouldn’t install dispensers in the hotel’s public spaces in the future.
