Pads + tampons should be offered for free in every bathroom.

Aunt Flow and The Utah Period Project are changing the world one cycle at a time by providing free period products for students!

learn more

Join the menstrual movement!

Offering free period products increases school attendance amongst girls by 2.4%.

Period products (i.e. pads and tampons) are a basic, absolute and constant hygiene need—equivalent to toilet paper. Providing Aunt Flow period products saves students from the stress of finding a pad or tampon when a sudden need arises—so they can get back to their day at 100%.

Bottom line? Providing complimentary period supplies is just the right thing to do.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Aunt Flow’s mission?

Our mission is to fight period poverty and stigma! Alongside ensuring that businesses and schools offer free period products for employees and students, our donation program supports activist-led pilot program initiatives and various grassroots nonprofit organizations.

What legislative progress has been made for the menstrual movement?

Over the years, we’ve seen steady progress across the nation as we continue to advocate for increased access to period products. Here are just a few exciting wins:

  1. Utah, California, Delaware, and Hawaii are some of the states that recently passed laws requiring free menstrual products in public schools.
  2. Louisiana, Michigan and Vermont are among states that have repealed the tampon tax.
  3. In 2021, Ann Arbor, Michigan passed a law mandating menstrual products in all public restrooms.
How can I get involved in the menstrual movement?

Aunt Flow believes in a multifaceted approach to achieving menstrual justice, including service, education, research, advocacy, and investment.

  1. Organize menstrual product drives and fundraisers in your community to collect and donate pads and tampons to local shelters and food pantries.
  2. Lead educational workshops in your community about menstruation, sustainable menstrual products, and destigmatizing menstruation.
  3. Apply pressure to policymakers, decision-makers, and local leaders, advocating for policies that improve access to menstrual products and education.
  4. Ask your school to include menstruation and menstrual health as part of the educational curriculum. In fact, 77% of students believe there needs to be more in-depth education about menstrual health.
  5. Conduct and support more peer-reviewed research assessing the prevalence and health implications of period poverty. This data is important for supporting more grassroots advocacy efforts.
  6. Urge schools and businesses to invest in high-quality menstrual products free of cost for everyone.

More states are requiring public bathrooms to offer freely accessible period products.

“Period products are not a luxury, but a necessity. Not having access to tampons and pads leads to missed school, shame, and lowered confidence. Many families cannot afford tampons and pads. We were drawn to Aunt Flow period products because of the quality and the dignity these will provide our students”

- Emily Bell McCormick

President and Founder, The Policy Project

"I started Aunt Flow when I couldn’t find any period products while out in public, which was very frustrating. No menstruator should have to go through that. Toilet paper is offered for free; why aren’t tampons and pads? Through the amazing work by The Policy Project, Utah has become a leader in the period equity movement, ensuring its school-age menstruators have access to period products. We’re proud to be part of this monumental effort."

Hi! I’m Claire. I founded Aunt Flow after getting my period in public without the supplies needed.

Founded in 2016, Aunt Flow is a certified WBENC women-owned company based in Columbus, Ohio. At 18 years old, I dedicated my life to developing a solution to ensure businesses and schools could sustainably provide quality period products, for free, in bathrooms. Our products are made with organic cotton (no weird stuff) and we are constantly working to reduce our environmental impact! For every 10 tampons and pads we sell, we donate 1 to a menstruator in need. I call this people helping people. PERIOD.®
